Stepping into
your first managerial role can be both exciting and daunting. The
technical expertise or skills that establish you as a credible performer
initially do not guarantee success in a broader management role, and yet advice
and training support varies considerably across organisations. However, it’s a
transition you can proactively prepare for, and if navigated successfully it
can establish a strong platform for future career growth.
During this interactive webinar a talent development
specialist from the Bayes Postgraduate Careers Team will:
- Highlight
the different expectations, duties and capabilities associated with individual
contributor, team member and managerial positions
- Encourage
you to assess your motivation and readiness for this key transition,
considering the required shift in mindset and potential impact on your future
career progression
- Support
you to determine some quick wins that will establish you as an effective people
manager, and how to avoid the common pitfalls that new managers encounter
- Introduce
some concepts and approaches you can adopt to showcase potential for senior
manager transitions
This session is
recommended for early to mid-career Bayes Postgraduate Alumni anticipating new
or increased team managerial responsibilities , or more senior profiles seeking
to support reports or colleagues through this transition.
