for the next Social Justice Law Fair on Thursday 7th November 2024
In November 2023, the first Social Justice Law Fair was held at the University of Westminster. The event featured 31 exhibitors, including chambers, law firms, charities, NGOs, and campaign groups committed to social justice, and attracted over 100 attendees. The fair was a resounding success, with students and graduates travelling from across the country to participate.
There are 5 founding principles of the Social Justice Law Fair.
- Accessibility: The SJLF is free to attend as both an exhibitor and guest. Every effort will be taken to ensure the event is accessible to all.
- Inclusivity: The SJLF is open to ALL students, graduates and aspiring social justice lawyers.
- Commitment to Legal Aid: SJLF exhibitors, if law firms or chambers, must offer some proportion of legally aided services.
- Diverse participation: The SJLF actively seeks and welcomes exhibitors from charities, not for profit organisations, community groups and grassroots campaigns.
- Promotion of Social Justice: The fair is dedicated to promoting opportunities within the social justice sector for aspiring social justice lawyers.
The 2024 event will take place during Pro Bono Week on the afternoon of Thursday 7th November 2024 and will be hosted by the City Law School's award-winning Community Legal Advice Centre (CityCLAC).
